Favorite WOD and why:  My favorite would have to be the “Filthy 50”.  I love Chippers and this one is challenging and fun all at the same time.

Least Favorite WOD and why:  Actually I have two: FRAN (hate thrusters) and ANNIE (I have had two children and double unders are not my friend).

Favorite “Cheat” Meal:  Oh, so many possibilities here….. I LOVE chocolate cake with buttercream frosting.  I guess I could make a meal out of that!

Favorite “Healthy” Meal:  Big Ribeye steak, spinach salad, and strawberries.

Favorite thing about coaching CrossFit:  I LOVE it when anyone achieves a personal record.  There is nothing like seeing a client’s face when they get that first pull-up or overhead squat or double under!  There is nothing better than a client telling you they have lost “X” amount of weight and now have the energy to do their job more effectively or keep up with their children!  These changes empower people and make a difference in their life.

Fitness background before CrossFit:  I was a stay-at-home mom and taught Step Aerobics and Senior fitness classes while my children were growing up.  I also had my own business teaching new moms how to exercise with their babies in the park.  I was teaching others however, I felt I needed to work on my own fitness.  I was 43 years old and couldn’t do a pull-up if my life depended on it and I hated weight training.  For women, weight training is a must if you want to have strong bones and increase your metabolism!  I needed someone to make me do the type of training I didn’t like.  So, I joined CrossFit.  The changes you see with CrossFit are not just on the outside, they are on the inside as well.  It is very empowering to complete a workout and on the drive home think, “I just completed 50 pull-ups”!

Favorite activity outside of CrossFit:  Aside from spending time with my family, I look forward to my Sunday mornings.  I get up and go for a run.  It is “my time” and running clears my head, gets me focused and relaxed.  Also, since my run is done, I won’t feel so guilty about watching 12 hours of FOOTBALL!!!

Favorite Movie:  Caddyshack or Monty Python’s Holy Grail

Favorite WOD and Why:  Isabel and Grace.  It is just you and the barbell which sounds simple but there is a  lot of technique and power generated.  They are Olympic lifts which challenge your strength, metabolic conditioning and mental toughness.

Favorite Cheat Meal:  Lefty’s Deep Dish Pizza and beer.

Favorite Healthy Meal:  Steak, asparagus and sweet potatoes.

Favorite thing about coaching CrossFit:  Helping people realize their full potential.

Fitness Background Before CF:  Played Collegiate Football, Semi Pro and All Army Rugby, and was involved in martial arts from a young age.

Favorite Activity Outside of CF:  I enjoy cycling for SkyFlash and US Military teams.  I am also involved as a Peer Mentor for military organizations participating in Horsmanship, cycling, skiing, and hiking programs.

Favorite WOD and why:  My favorite WOD would have to be Fran, it’s short and deadly.  Once you can do each set of thrusters and pull-ups unbroken and under 5 minutes; you die:)

Least Favorite WOD and why:  Anything that requires running.  There is only two things I like:  1) Weightlifting and 2) NOT Running!

Favorite “Cheat” Meal:  Anything with chocolate – Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream, Nothing Bundt Cake.

Favorite “Healthy” Meal:  Steamed asparagus, a good steak (fillet mingon is my favorite) and smashed sweet potatoes.

Favorite thing about coaching CrossFit:  I really enjoy coaching CrossFit because I love seeing the excitement on my athletes’ faces when they hit a new PR or their first Muscle Up (it makes me feel like a proud mom seeing their kid score a winning shot)!  I like doing personal training as well because it is a way for me to work with my athletes on a 1:1  level and really focus on specific goals (whether it’s losing weight after giving birth, or the client has been doing CrossFit for a while but wants to improve in certain areas like gymnastics or weightlifting).  I really enjoy programming to the individual’s capabilities and goals.

Fitness Background before CrossFit:  I have always been into sport during my K-12.  I did everything from soccer, softball, dance and even cheerleading.  In college I went back to soccer but as you probably know, I’m not a big fan of running so I switched over to competitive Olympic weightlifting.  I love CrossFit but I am a weightlifter at heart.

Favorite Movie:  Any Italian Mafia movie, Bronx Tale, Goodfellas, Casino and of course you cannot leave out the best one of all…. The Godfather!
